ATHENS (SEPTEMBER 16-19, 2019) We begin our adventure in Athens where we'll spend 3 nights of cultural immersion. We'll stay at the beautiful Hera Hotel, located just minutes from the Acropolis with stunning Acropolis views from their rooftop Peacock restaurant.
After settling into our hotel, we'll enjoy an early welcome dinner in the nearby Plaka area, featuring narrow cobblestone streets lined with tiny shops selling jewelry, clothes and local ceramics. Sidewalk cafes and family-run tavernas stay open until late, and Cine Paris shows classic movies al fresco. Nearby, the whitewashed homes of the Anafiotika neighborhood give the small enclave a Greek-island vibe. On the following day, after we're well rested, we'll take a half day private guided tour where we'll discover some of Greece's greatest treasurers and the best of modern Athens. (details below)
Next, we'll continue our adventure by embarking on our 7-day sailing trip around the Cyclades Islands, (September 19-26, 2020,) aboard a 43 ft luxury catamaran that sleeps 8, 4 double cabins w/4 bathrooms/showers, plus licensed Captain and on-board hostess serving daily breakfast and lunch, and dinner on arrival day.
We'll explore the smaller islands, enjoying gorgeous beaches and swim stops in secluded bays along the way. There will be plenty of time to meet and converse with the locals and enjoy dinner in one of the many waterfront restaurants featuring the catch of the day and other Greek specialities (on your own).
